Macao (China)'s eSIM
Like Hong Kong, Macao runs its own telecoms network and is not subject to mainland China's internet restrictions. Google, WhatsApp and Instagram work normally here. And like Hong Kong, it is a separate destination — a mainland China plan will not cover Macao, and a Macao plan will not cover the mainland.
Most visitors arrive by ferry from Hong Kong or across the bridge, and many come for a day or two rather than a full trip. Install the profile before you travel and it activates on arrival, which suits a short visit where a SIM purchase would eat into the time.
We list 60 Macao plans from $1.15. Single-day bundles genuinely make sense here given how many visits are day trips; longer options suit a stay. 32 plans cover multiple areas, worth considering if Hong Kong is part of the same trip.
Networks and coverage
50 of our 60 Macao plans include 5G. Coverage is dense and complete — Macao is tiny and heavily built up, so the peninsula, Taipa, Cotai and the casino resorts all have strong signal, including indoors.
These eSIM plans provide mobile data and do not include standard calls or SMS. Keep your regular SIM available for verification codes and use internet messaging apps over data. The main gap is on the ferry crossing to Hong Kong, where you may drop out mid-route.
