Puerto Rico's eSIM
Puerto Rico is a US territory, which surprises some visitors when their domestic US plan roams here without extra charge — but not everyone has a US plan, and a travel eSIM is the straightforward option for anyone else. Old San Juan, El Yunque rainforest and the bioluminescent bays anchor most trips.
Install the profile before you fly; it activates at Luis Muñoz Marín. Useful on arrival for the same reasons as anywhere else — ride-hailing, maps and the tour bookings that El Yunque and the bio bays require.
We list 36 Puerto Rico plans from $3.73, priced closer to the US market than neighbouring islands. Shorter bundles suit a San Juan visit; longer options fit an island loop.
Networks and coverage
28 of our 36 Puerto Rico plans include 5G, with 4G/LTE beneath. San Juan, Ponce and the main highway network are well covered.
El Yunque rainforest has coverage near the visitor centre but drops on interior trails, and the bio bay tour areas at night rely on the guide rather than your phone anyway. These eSIM plans provide mobile data and do not include standard calls or SMS. Keep your regular SIM available for verification codes and use internet messaging apps over data.
