Switzerland's eSIM
Switzerland is the country where a travel eSIM saves the most money, because it is not in the EU roaming zone. Travellers with European plans that cover the rest of the continent often find Switzerland excluded — and Swiss roaming rates from foreign carriers are among the highest in Europe.
Install the profile before you fly and it activates at Zurich, Geneva or Basel. Immediately useful: the SBB app is the only sensible way to handle Swiss rail, where connections are timed to the minute and a four-minute platform change is normal rather than optimistic.
We list 95 Switzerland plans from $0.95. Daily bundles suit a short city stay; 15 and 30-day options fit a rail pass itinerary or a week in the mountains. Note that many Europe regional plans exclude Switzerland, so check carefully before assuming you are covered.
Networks and coverage
Swiss mobile infrastructure is excellent, and 94 of our 95 Switzerland plans include 5G. Coverage extends impressively far into the mountains — most cable car stations, alpine villages and even many high passes have signal, and the rail network is covered end to end including long tunnels like the Gotthard Base.
These eSIM plans provide mobile data and do not include standard calls or SMS. Keep your regular SIM available for verification codes and use internet messaging apps over data. Genuinely remote high terrain and glacier routes remain uncovered.
