Vietnam's eSIM
Vietnam runs on motorbikes and apps. Grab is the default way to move around cities, addresses often include alley numbers that only mapping apps resolve, and sleeper bus bookings are confirmed by message rather than ticket. A Vietnam eSIM makes all of that workable from arrival.
Install the profile before you fly; it activates at Noi Bai, Tan Son Nhat or Da Nang. Worth having immediately — airport taxi touts are persistent, and booking a Grab from inside the terminal at a fixed price is the simplest way past them.

Networks and coverage
Vietnamese mobile data is fast and among the cheapest in the region. 57 of our 79 Vietnam plans include 5G — a lower share than in Europe, but 4G/LTE is widely deployed and performs well for maps, messaging and streaming.
Coverage is strong in cities and along the coastal highway. The northern mountains around Sapa, the Ha Giang loop and parts of the Mekong Delta are patchier.
